  • Why? What did the email say?
  • Hey guys! I couldn't help but overhear your conversation. It's quite clear you didn't read my email, Phil.
  • Strategy #1: Become an engaged listener. Phil, to improve your communication, you should have been focusing on the speaker, showing interest in what Bob had to say, without interrupting and providing effective feedback.
  • My email discussed how we all need to be improving how effective our communication is in the workplace. There are four strategies to follow in order to do this.
  • Strategy #2: Pay attention to non-verbal signals. Phil, you should have been avoiding negative body language and noticing Bob's non-verbal communication signs
  • Lastly, strategy #4: Assert yourself. Phil, you do in fact value your opinions and understand what you want and need, however you did not express your thoughts in a positive manner.
  • Strategy #3: Keep stress in check. Phil, you should have been focusing on one topic point at a time and taking pauses to collect your thoughts before you replied.
