  • King Midas is very wealthy and loves his gold even more than his daughter, Marigold.
  • King Midas is overcome with joy when he realizes everything he touches turns to gold.
  • King Midas begins to worry when he cannot eat or drink because his food and water turns to gold.
  • The King is overcome with dread when he turns his daughter into a golden statue. The King finally realizes the consequences of his greed.
  • The King begs for the fairy to reverse what he has done. King Midas runs to the spring to collect the water that will return his daughter to normal.
