  • In the short story, " The Cask of Amontillado" by Edgar Allen Poe , a man named Fortunado insulted the Narrator's, Montresor, family crest. Montresor later tricks Fortunado and Buries him alive.

  • Montresor's retaliation against Fortunado were justified.
  • Analysis
  • Fortunado Insulted Montresor's family crest and name.
  • Conclusion Sentence
  • The author states, " True. We Montresors were a great family." And later, "And your motto?" "No one insults me without punishment."
  • This shows that Montresor was forced to punish Fortunado. If Montresor hadn't, he would have insulted his own family, because his family motto is," No one insults me without punishment." so not to follow his family motto would bring him shame.
  • Montresor's retaliation was justified because Fortunado insulted Montresor's family crest and name.
