  • The story of Otto von Bismarck. Part 2
  • Bismarck's next goal was to get the German states located in the south to join the German Confederation.
  • In 1870 Otto von Bismarck tricked France and Prusia to go war with each other. During the Franco-Prussian War the southern German states came to the side of Prussia and France lost the war. 
  • On January 21, 1871, Otto von Bismarcknd and Prussia took possession of the German Empire. Prussian King Wilhelm took control of Germany.
  • The balance of power that was created by the Congress of Vienna 1815 was put in place as an attempt to stabalize the political and militalry forces of Europe.
  • The German Unification made Germany stronger than most of the other countries that were close to Germany.
