- A major theme in chapter 11, is the change between Mariams and Rasheeds marriage and how it has become more trditonal. Rasheed began acting nicer towards mariam and even took her out and bought her a new silk shawl.
- Another major theme in chapter 11 is when rasheed goes into Mariams room and doesnt leave afterwards.
