In the beginning of the story Tom Walker id found walking through tall grass soon finding a strange creature otherwise known as the Devil.
After Tom Walkers wife leaves, He ends up going down a dark path leaving himself and his house in bad shape.
"He scowled fora moment at Tom with a pair of great red eyes. "What are you doing on my grounds?" said the black man with a hoarse voice."
The settings in this story are described by imagery and romanticism. They use these two to not only describe the settings but the feelings that each character might be feeling.
As Tom Walker becomes very wealthy he realizes he starts to worry about his soul, and tries to get forgiveness by reading the bible an going to church. Yet the devil still returned t collect what was now his.
People all over Boston wanted to see Toms estate however when they went to look for the money it was gone without a trace. To this day a legend has it that a black horse and an old man in a white cap can be seen in the marsh where the devil took toms spirit.
