  • This shows Ruth and Walters unsteady relationship. Their relationship has a big contribution to the decisions made in this play.
  • "DAMN MY EGGS-DAMN ALL THE EGGS THAT EVER WAS!"(Hansberry 34).
  • "Eat your eggs, Walter"(34).
  • Ruth's child helps make the decision to buy the house, to have more room. This scene also rises tension between mama and Walter because he doesn't say anything about the abortion.
  • "Yes-she says everything is going to be fine..."(59).
  • "She"-what doctor you went to?"(59).
  • The house plays an important role in the play. This idea will change their lives forever, especially since they are moving into a white neighborhood, Most of the plays evnts revolve around buying the house.
  • "I dont know, Grandma ma"(91).
  • "She went out and she bought you a house!"(91).
  • This shows trust through mamas actions toward Walter. She believes he will do the right thing and he can be the head of the household now
  • "That leaves sixty-five hundred dollars . Monday morning I want you to take this money...the rest you put in a checking account-with your name on it"(107).
  • Walter let the whole family down. They all thought that their lives and dreams were over. This was a good realizing moment of what is important to each family member.
  • "When I got to the train station yesterday morning -eight o'clock like we planned...Man-Willy didn't never show up"(127) .
  • "Why...where was he...where is he?"(127).
  • This showed Walters manhood as mama said. He finally made a decision for the family that was not about money and more the families future.
  • "And we decided to move into our house because my father-my father-he earned it for us brick by brick"(148).
