  • Loki, no longer a god in nature or rank, became an outcast and a fugitive flying from the wrath of the gods whom he insulted and wronged. He went place to place until he found a deep valley. There he built a house among the rocks.
  • Loki took on many disguises; During the daytime he took the form of a salmon and hid in the deep waters. Days and weeks passed, Loki began to think he was safe from the pursuit of his enemies. He was a skilled fisherman, he began to knit the meshes of his net.
  • Odin, looking down from his throne, saw the busy weaver, he quickly called Thor, the strongest, and Kvaser, the keenest of the gods. They were soon on the journey to Loki's Home in the mountain.
  • Loki did not see them until they were close at hand, he threw the net in the fire, ran to the river changed into a salmon and dove deep into the waters. The gods entered the house, saw the net, and remembered Loki was a fisherman .
  • The thought came suddenly upon Kvaser, Loki has changed himself into a fish and is hiding in that river. They began to work on the half burnt net, and quickly finished it. Then they went down to the river and threw the net in.
  • Thor was wading in the water watching Loki. Loki saw the net drawing near, and with a mighty leap he shot into the air and over the net. Thor caught the fish, and with a strong hand closed around the fish.
