AND NEVER COME BACK!!!
The Athenians had just defeated the Persian forces, this should have brought peace to Greece. It didn't.
I have come to inform you of a pass that leads to the heart of the Spartan army.
You will be rewarded for your services.
Eventually when the Persians came back (10 years later) they were stronger than ever. The Greeks decided that Leonidas, king of the Spartans would lead the Greeks to battle due to Sparta's fierce reputation on the battle field.
The Persians and Greeks began to battle on a mountain pass very close to the sea. Although the Persians had the Greeks greatly outnumbered the Greeks were still winning because of their tactics and fierce brutality.
A man from the neighboring village came to Xerxes, the King of Persia, and informed him of a goat pass through the mountains that would lead right to the center of the Greek militant. He gave up this information, as Sparta threw him out for his deformity.
Leonidas met with the other leaders, and he told them to retreat back to Greece. He and his 300 Spartans would stay, along with Thebans who did not leave, to fend off the large army of Persia.
The Persians used the pass that the Greek traitor had told them of, and they surrounded the Spartans, making sure there was nowhere to go. The Spartans fought until the Persians sent down their volley of arrows, killing each and every Spartan.
