Storyboard Text

  • China in the 1850s was nothing but poverty and starvation for my family, so I left to look for fortune....
  • I'm sorry honey, but we just can't live like this, I must go.
  • Please Don't go.
  • The Americans herded many of us, like sheep, onto the lower decks of their ship and we sailed toward America.....
  • I sought an American railroad company which was in need of Chinese workers in America
  • Baaa....
  • Move Faster! We don't have all day.
  • The rodent infested decks were so cramped, we barely had room to sit and throughout the trip the Americans served us little food, but the thoughts of fortune kept us all going.
  • As soon as we arrived in America, we were housed in several, tiny, extremely cramped apartments, in a place we all called "Chinatown".
  • I just can't wait to exploit my new Chinese Workers!
  • About a day after we all have settled down in America, thousands of us were quickly sent to building the west side of the "Transcontinental Railroad" day and night.
  • But...Sir, your not even paying us as much as the slower working Americans..
  • Work faster! I'm paying you for a reason ya know!
  • From there, we had to do the deadliest of jobs. We were the ones who had to set off the explosives the Americans make. Nearly 1,500 of us Chinese workers have died due to these explosives
  • Quickly! We must go before the Black Powder and Nitroglycerine mixture explodes!
  • RUN!!
