- "It’s better if you don’t think of them as human… They’re pattern-recognition filters, that’s all." "In the milk all they see is the future."
- FRAMING / DIALOGUE / MOTIF
- "I'm placing you under arrest for the future murder of Sarah Marks and Donald Doobin."
- Case #1108. Red ball. Crime of passion.
- "You know how blind you are without your glasses."
- Everyone in Washington DC 2054 is watched. Eye scanners, everywhere except the Sprawl, positively EYEdent citizens enabling the police to track future criminals. Invasive spyders are even used to confirm identification of children.
- MUSIC / SILENCE / CLICKETY CLACK
- "Sometimes in order to see the light, you have to risk the dark." Iris.
- Precogs are kept in the Temple and live in the future. Their names, Arthur, Dashiell and Agatha allude to the great crime writers who solve murders in every novel. It is Agatha who helps Jon solve his own mystery. The really bad murders they see again and again - an echo.

- " every creature on the face of the earth is interested in one thing and one thing only:..it's own survival."
- Tresspassing...
- People like Howard Marks are accused of murder before it happens. Protests fall on deaf ears as this system is perfect. He is haloed. Police also carry sick sticks and concussion guns. "We're more like clergy than cops."
- LOW KEY LIGHTING / DIALOGUE
- "...for Precrime to function, there can't be any suggestion of fallibility." (Iris)
- "Forgive me, John."
- Attacks occur frequently. Jon is chased by precrime, sick sticks are used. A spyder relentlessly seeks to EYEdent him after his eye operation. Seven others follow and perch over the bath.
- "There hasn't been a murder in six years. There's nothing wrong with the system. It's perfect." Yeah right. My belief was born of pain.
- The system, "a series of genetic mistakes and science gone haywire," is not perfect. Lamar knew about these "alternate futures", insignificant variables or Minority Reports. "...parents often see their children as they want them to be, not as they are."
- "The Precogs are never wrong..but, occasionally, they do disagree...once in a while one of them will see things differently than the other two."
- On the rooftop Lamar confronts Jon.
- "If you don't kill me, it means the precogs ere wrong and Precrime is over. If you do kill me, you go away, but... it proves the system works. The precogs were right."
