Conduction: Heat is transferred by direct contact. Heat was transferred from the hot coffee mug to Petunia's hand.
Petunia is at Dr.Tammy's office for a counseling session. Dr.Tammy offers Petunia a coffee. When she touches the mug it is hot because of conduction.
The coffee is too hot to drink so Dr.Tammy puts ice in her drink to cool it off. It cools when the heat from the coffee transfers to the ice.
Convection: When heat transfers from hot to cold in a liquid. When Dr. Tammy puts ice cubes in the hot coffee to cool it, heat is being transferred from the coffee to the ice.
After Petunia's counseling session, she rides her bike to the park. As she is riding her bike she starts to feel hot because of the sun.
Radiation: Heat transferred by waves. Petunia gets hot from being outside under the sun rays that transfer heat from the sun to Petunia by radiation.
