  • Hamartia: a fatal flaw
  • Hubris: pride or self confidence
  • Peripeteia: a sudden reversal of fortune
  • Romeo's fatal flaw is the fact that he is so impulsive. 
  • Anagnorisis: a critical discovery
  • Romeo feels as though nothing in his life can go wrong. He believes that luck is on his side, and that he is living in the dream.
  • nemesis: the inescapable agent of downfall
  • Romeo ends up killing Tybalt after Tybalt killed Mercutio. The prince exiles him from the land.
  • Catharsis: releasing repressed emotions
  • Romeo learns about the "demise" of his dear beloved Juliet.
  • Romeo feels that he can no longer live after hearing of her "death." He decides to buy poison and kill himself.
  • Romeo goes to Juliet"s grave and commits suicide upon her resting ground.
