Storyboard Text

  • Acceleration is basically the rate of change of velocity per unit of time.
  • There is also something related to velocity, known as acceleration.
  • Doesn't acceleration have a formula Mr Schmutz?
  • That's right! Acceleration does have it's own formula. Speed and velocity do too.
  • Here I'll actually show the formula for all three:
  • Speed =
  • Velocity =
  • Acceleration =
  • time
  • distance
  • --------------
  • time
  • displacement
  • ----------------
  • change in velocity
  • time taken
  • -------------------
  • Here are the three formulas for acceleration, velocity and speed. Now let's try and calculate the acceleration problem I am about to tell you using the formula provided:
  • What is the acceleration of a car moving on a straight path when the speed goes from 0 to 70 miles per hour in 5 seconds?
  • What's the answer everyone?
  • That is correct! Very good.
  • The answer is 14!
  • Well that's all for class. I hope everyone has a great day!
  • Thanks Mr Schmutz and you too!
