Storyboard Text

  • Dysgraphia
  • I'm going to have so many friends Charlie!
  • How will he learn to write?
  • ~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~~ ~~~
  • When I was young, my parents already knew that something was different about me. They knew I couldn't hold a spoon properly, couldn't draw, and couldn't write. My mother went to a professional, and we figured out that I have what is called Dysgraphia.
  • Cursive Writing
  • You need to know cursive, IT'S IMPORTANT!
  • This is me, 5 years old and about to go into kindergarten. I was excited for all the new friends I would make and how I would learn new things, while my mother was simply worried.
  • What is THAT.
  • Draw An Animal
  • It's a... It's a snake...
  • Kindergarten was interesting. My teacher was very nice, always helping other kids with writing and drawing, but when we learned about letters, she couldn't even tell what my letters were, let alone that they were letters.
  • Can't wait to read!
  • In 2nd Grade, we started to learn cursive. I was still learning which way to draw my number so they weren't backwards. My teacher was not happy. She would get really mad that I wasn't writing any cursive because I was afraid of how bad it would look.
  • Not only could I not write, but I couldn't draw either. It was harder for me, I couldn't keep my coloring inside the lines, even when I tried very hard to do so. Art was one of my least enjoyable classes ever.
  • Even though I was Dysgraphic, I still loved reading. I would read for hours and hours on end, sometimes staying up until 1:00 in the morning just to finish one series in a night. I loved books, but since my handwriting was bad, teachers thought my reading level was low as well.
