- Lilly N Jean and Cassie were walking on the sidewalk when Lilly N Jean bumped into Cassie. Then Lilly N Jean devalued Cassie by accusing Cassie of bumping into her and demanding an apology.
- Lilly N Jean's demand started an argument between her and Cassie. But Cassie stood up for herself by disagreeing with Lilly N Jean's apology demand.
- Then Mr. Simms came and supported Lilly N Jean's argument. Mr. Simms pushed Cassie to her knees and demanded the apology. This made Cassie appear smaller than Mr. Simms and Lilly N Jean.
- Jeremy ran up to Mr. Simms and started to yell at him about his wrongful treatment of Cassie.
- Mr. Simms made Jeremy leave and continued to yelled at Cassie, demanding an apology. Cassie felt confused and belittled. She began to cry.
- Then Big Ma walked over and told Cassie to apologize. Big Ma made Cassie apologize because she believed that the Mr. Simms' white privilege could create bigger problems for their family. Big Ma was aware of the inequity and the devaluation of black folks by white folks in their community.
