Storyboard Text

  • Coyotito, the baby, got stung by a scorpion and the poison within the sting is enough to kill him.
  • In order to save the baby from the poison in the sting, Kino and Juana brought Coyotito to the doctor's home, but the doctor's servant tells them that the doctor isn't home and wont help them since they have nothing of value.
  • In order to get enough money to pay the doctor, Kino dives down into the Ocean searching for clams with pearls in them. He eventually see's a shine coming from a clam and to his suprise there was a large pearl in it.
  • The doctor hears that they found a pearl, and he tricks them into allowing him to treat Coyotito even though Kino knows that the baby is no longer poisoned. The doctor, also knowing the baby is no longer poisned, gives the baby something to make him sick and then cures him later that day. When the doctor asks for his payment, Kino says he is going to sell the pearl tomorrow.
  • Kino goes into town to try to sell his pearl and the first buyer offers him a small amount of money saying that the pearl is too big and no one else will want to buy it. He sends the word to other pearl buyer and the three new buyers arrive, already knowing what they're going to say. Kino realizes that they are working together to get the pearl for a cheap price, so he says he will go to the capital to sell his pearl. Later that night he questions his decision.
  • Kino was attacked and Juana rushed out to help him, but it was too late the attacker was gone. This was the second time Kino was attacked, the first time was the night before. Like the night before Juana begs Kino to throw the pearl into the ocean as she thinks that the pearl is bringing bad luck. But Kino ignores her and plans to sell it in the capital.
