- oh igneous I didn't expect to see you here!
- OK but what does this have to do with me?
- Hey Sediment I figured you would be here and wanted to ask you some questions. Is that ok?
- Ok what's up?
- Well i was wondering how was i made from you?
- Well it starts with how i was formed. I'm made from rocks that already existed. when pieces of rocks are loosened from weathering they get transported to some basin or depression where sediment is trapped
- Wow that's so cool! Thanks for telling me Sediment. Ive always wondered where i came from!
- If the sediment is buried deeply, it becomes compacted and cemented forming me, a sedimentary rock
- I'm getting there. Now when i am buried deep under the earths surface great pressure and heat change sedimentary rocks into new ones called metamorphic rocks.
- Oh man that sounds like it would hurt.
- It doesn't . Now here is where you come in. When metamorphic rocks start melting underground it becomes Magma. When a volcano erupts magma flows out of it which it is now called lava. as the lava cools it hardens and becomes you, an ingneous rock.
