  • The Meeting of the Estates General
  • I am terrified that my traditional privileges will be taken from me!
  • I am tired of being treated like I am worth nothing!
  • The Tennis Court Oath
  • Never to separate and to meet wherever the circumstances might require until we have established a sound and just constitution.
  • The Storming of the Bastille
  • ATTACK THE COMMANDER!
  • The Estates-General of 1789 was the first meeting since 1614. This assembly represented the French estates: the clergy (First Estate, the nobility (Second Estate), and the commoners (Third Estate). This meeting was very important because it helped the French recognize different social classes.
  • The March on Versailles
  • WE WANT BREAD!!!!
  • Delegates of the Third Estate chose to become the National Assembly. The Tennis Court Oath was taken by the delegates because they wanted to take votes as a single body. Louis was forced to accept the Tennis Court Oath.
  • The Reign of Terror
  • Please don´t kill us!!
  • The Bastille was in complete chaos. The people wanted weapons, but the commander refused to open the gates. He then opened fire on the crowd and killed many people. He was soon killed and the crowd never found any weapons. This event became a national independence day for the French.
  • The Rise of Napoleon
  • I DESERVED TO BE KING!
  • Many angry women marched thousands of miles to see the king and release their anger towards the queen, Marie Antoinette. They hated her perfect life and lack of care for the people and demanded a change!
  • Robespierre began the Reign of Terror because he believed terror and torture was a good way to revolutionize. This did not help and instead caused more issues within the people.
  • Napoleon gained his power by becoming a political leader that made a network of spies and censored the press. Soon after, he made himself king in France and then became the person he wanted himself to be.
