  • Six years later Helen is a little child trying to get around, she has been badly spoiled by her parents. Helen has knocked down her baby sisters cradle just to put her own doll in the cradle. Captain Keller, the father, yells at her, while Kate, the mother, protects her. James, Helens half brother thinks that Helen should be put in a asylum.
  • Go away Helen, why should we play with you?!
  • For Helens sake her parents have had a governess come to try and teach Helen her name is Annie Sullivan. Helen has locked Annie in her room with no way to get out so Captain Keller must get Annie out through a window and go down on Captain Kellers shoulder. Annie is stubborn though and insist on getting out on her own.
  • WAH WAH

  • Later the next day Helen has no manners at the breakfast table, and Annie thinks its unexeptable. She will not let Helen put her hands in her food so Helen starts a fit and everyone is asked to leave the diner room execpt Annie and Helen. Helen is unreasonable and wil not give in and niether will Annie. They begin to fight and it gets physical. In the end Helen is taught to eat from her own plate, eat with a spoon and to fold her napkin.
  • As Annie begins to give up she overhears from Helen's parents that they were thinking about putting her in a asylum. Annie remembers her horrible childhood living in an asylum and the death of her brother , Jimmie. So she has insisted on staying and taking care of Annie for two weeks. Helens parents agree. In the begining of the two weeks was rough, Helen was scared of Annie and didn't want to be around her. One night Annie woke up Helen to teach her sign language, but she wouldnt cooperate. • At the end of the two weeks Helen is a well behaved child. Annie wants more time but Helens parents want Helen back.Annie feels that Helen must learn the meaning of words. Either way Helen was sent back home. Helen starts to test her limits at the Kellers because she knows her parents are there and she can get away with everything. Annie was afraid that all of her hard work would be undone by the Kellers. Since Helen is being bad and back to her old ways, Annie makes Helen go fill up the pitcher. when Helen feels the water she says "wah wah" and then everything clicks. She understands that things have a name and a meaning. Helen is a new child.
