Storyboard Text

  • After the Cicones, they came to an island where the lostus then gave fruit to the men, so that they would forget about home and stay there forever. Odysseus took the men away from the fruit and lotus and took them on the ship.
  • "From there we sailed away with troubled hearts." (Odysseus 91)
  • Odysseus and his men encounter a cyclops, Polythemus. Son of Poseidon. Odysseus and his men convince Polythemus to drink some wine. Polythemus passes out. Odysseus and his men escape by stabbing Polythemus in the eye. Poseidon is now angry with Odysseus and his men.
  • "My name is No-one!" (Odysseus 347)
  • "They opened the bag!" (Odysseus 31)
  • Aeolus had given Odysseus a bag of wind, that would carry Odysseus and his men back to Ithaca. When Odysseus's men saw the bag, they assumed that it was filled with treasure and they wanted their share. So his men opened the bag and the bag created a large storm, and carried them far away from Ithaca.
  • Odysseus and his men find an island, but the land belonged to the Laestrygonians, several of Odysseus's men were eaten by the Laestrygonians. Odysseus and the remaning of his men flee to the ship.
  • "He grabbed one of my men and swallowed him!" (Odysseus 87)
  • Hermes gives moly to Odysseus so that when he drinks a God's drink or potion, Odysseus won't be affected by the potion or drink. Odysseus was going to Circe's house so that Odysseus can save his friends who have been turned into pigs by Circe.
  • "I'll give you now will baffle all her plots." (Hermes 200)
  • Odysseus went to Hades and met his dead mother who had committed suicide because she missed Odysseus. He has to talk to Tiresias, a blind spirit who will help him home.
  • “It was lament for you – your gentleness and wisdom… -- that robbed me of the honey-sweet of life.” (Odysseus's mother 216)
