- Somebody told me they thought he killed a man once.
- Nick Carraway begins to reflect on what he knows and what he has seen about Gatsby's parties and especially about the fact that people came uninvited... Yet he was given an invitation that came from the mysterious Gatsby himself.
- Absolutely real- have pages and everything. I thought they'd be a nice durable cardboard!
- What do you think about the books?
- Carraway arrives and enters Gatsby's party with his invitation, where hundreds of individuals were present. He remains oblivious as to why he was the only one invited.
- Your face looks familiar, weren't you in the Third Division during the war?
- Why, yes. I was in the Ninth Machine-Gun Battalion.
- After looking around the party, failing at his mission to find Gatsby, and hearing a conversation between Jordan, the famous golfer, and two other girls. Nick and Jordan enter a massive library.
- I'm Gatsby.
- They meet a drunk man wearing large owl-eyed spectacles. As he seemed interested in Jordan's appearance, he asked her about the impressive library.
- Nick began speaking to an unknown man after he found out they both served in the war. He had even made plans with him to go try out his hydroplane in the morning.
- Nick Carraway was surprised to hear that this unknown man was Gatsby himself. Yet, Gatsby then apologizes and explains that he believed Nick knew it was him.
- I am yet to see the host, even though he himself sent his chauffeur to give me an invitation.
