Storyboard Text

  • Christopher Columbus went to the King and Queen of Spain to get funding for his trip. Mission: find a passage through water to India.
  • Columbus and his crew arrive to an island 33 days later, they believe that it is the Indonesian Islands. Little do they know, they had landed in the Caribbean.
  • Though many accounts say that Columbus was kind to the natives, he also had a side mission, bring back gold and slaves for the king and queen. Columbus made the Natives work in gold finding, even though the Natives already knew that finding gold was impossible.
  • Christopher Columbus later returns to Spain to get more ships and men. The King and Queen grant his request and send Columbus back, this time to get those slaves.
  • The Natives, tired of doing pointless work, run away or commit suicide. After they ran away, the settlers went after them and killed them. Due to the suicides and killings, the Native population decreased heavily.
  • Today, Columbus is considered a hero because the only story told, is how he discovered the US, while in truth, he never set foot here.
