Storyboard Text

  • A plane carrying 6-12 year old schoolboys is shot down and crashes on an inhabited island in the middle of the ocean. The pilot and other adults are killed. The boys are then scattered throughout the island and look for each other. On the beach, a fair boy encounters a fat boy, and they both encounter a conch shell on the beach. The fair boy decides to blow it to make a loud noise to bring everyone together.
  • No. A shell! (Golding 15)
  • What's that, a rock? (Golding 15)
  • When Ralph blows the conch, a score of boys approach from all over the island and reunite with each other. They decide to hold a vote for the leader of the clan and to establish new rules. Ralph is elected ruler through a vote, everyone raises there hands and eventually Piggy does too.
  • Who wants me? (Golding 23)
  • Alright, Im chief then. (Golding 23)
  • Now he says it was a beastie. A snake thing, ever so big. He saw it. (Golding 37)
  • A beastie? (Golding 37)
  • Where? (Golding 37)
  • In the woods. (Golding 38)
  • One of the youngest kids in the clan says he spotted a beastie in the woods. Piggy tells this to the whole clan.
  • Ralph proposes idea of lighting a fire to make smoke to be noticed and rescued. The boys head up to the mountain and start a fire with Piggy's glasses. They rush to keep the fire alive and end up burning down a ton of the forest.
  • You got your small fire alright. (Golding 44)
  • Ralph and Simon both begin to build huts on the beach for the littler kids to dwell in. Jack comes back and Ralph yells at him and the other boys complaining that nobody is helping with the construction except Simon
  • AND I WORK WITH NOTHING ALL DAY BUT SIMON AND YOU COME BACK AND DON'T EVEN NOTICE THE HUTS! (Golding 54)
  • DONT YOU WANT TO BE RESCUED? ALL YOU THINK ABOUT IS PIG PIG PIG! (Golding 54)
  • But I want the meat. (Golding 54)
  • Simon wanders off into the jungle by himself and finds a sanctuary. A peaceful area with birds, flowers, and butterflies. He then just rests in the beauty of it all.
  • Ahhhh.
