- Thank you mama! Im so nervous becuase I have never spent so much time away from you
- Here is your backpack Tara !! Are you ready for your first day of school and not spending all day at home with me?
- Bye mama!
- What choices?What will I do without mama? How will i survive this day without her help
- Bye Tara! Have a good day at school and make good choices
- "Beep Beep," the bright yellow bus honks as it approaches Tara house
- Why is this school so big. Why are there so many children. How do they all know where to go? OMG WHERE IS MY BACKPACK?
- Where would my pencils and notebook be? Mama usually hands them to me. I don't know where the will be?
- Today is September 1st, 2021 and its Tara's first day of school. She is entering the first grade and before this, her mom homeschooled her. Tara has always spent most of her time with her mom and has grown dependent on her. Tara is scared what she will do to without her mom.
- Good morning! Please takeout our notebooks and pencils children!!
- Tara is about to leave for the bus to school and her mom said to make good choices as school. Before today, her mom made all of her choices. She picked what subject they did first, what she ate for lunch and who she made friends with. Without her guidance and help, Tara was nervous and had many unanswered questions?
- There are so many options? I have no idea what I should choose.
- As Tara left the bus, she was hit with confusion and a reality shock. She has no idea of what to do and no ability to to figure a solution to her problem. She has always depended on her mom that she could not reason to follow the rest of the children into the school or to grab her backpack right after she left the bus
- How do I open a locker? What does these numbers mean? How are the able to open the locker and not me
- When asked to get their supplies out,Tara was confused on what to do because she was never required to be this independent before. She was always given everything by her mother. Tara looked all over in her backpack and finally found a bright pink pencil case in the front pocket of her backpack. Feeing embarrassed of almost not being able to do a simple task, she notices how naive and dependent she has been all these years
- Tara is overwhelmed by the lunchroom. Never before has she had to choose her own lunch among so many options. Usually her mom prepares a plate of food including chicken nuggets and carrots knowing the Tara will like the meal. Tara doesn't know for sure what she even like or dislikes without her mom assisting her
- Tara is unable to open her locker as it is her first time trying to open her locker. She has never been able to problem solve on her own without her momma. Unlike the other kids, she was underprepared for the real life.
