  • The French Revolution took place between 1789 and 1799. Its main goal was to even the power distribution in France.

  • Some of the factors that led to the French revolution were the growing resentment in lower classes, new ideas in government, serious economic troubles, weak leadership, and a food shortage.

  • The storming of the Bastille started when rumors spread that King Louis was sending in foreign troops to massacre French citizens. Members of the third estate then stormed the Bastille, a Paris prison. Attackers killed several commanders and guards stationed at the prison.
  • The great fear was a wave of senseless panic through France where peasants became outlaws themselves. They broke into nobles homes burning documents and sometimes the houses themselves.
