  • I just started college! I can't wait until Zoology classes start!

  • I made a few friends, but I really missed my family and my life back home. Performance in classes went downhill and I started becoming a recluse.

  • My roommate is sad and crying every night on the phone with her mom, and I feel like doing the same...
  • My room is so small and constricting!
  • I'm not enjoying classes or school in general...

  • I went into a depression. I wasn't sure what to do. Do I go home or do I stay at school?!

  • I chose the easy route and went home. I wasn't ready to face the challenges that presented themselves being away from home and at school.

  • I decided to journal about my experience at college and what I could take away from it to be able to be successful, not only in my education, but also in my life:  -The only thing standing in my way is ME -Speak up when I'm not feeling ok -Do not procrastinate my work; just do it! -It's ok to need to be around family while pursuing your dreams!

  • A few years and a few lessons learned later, I got my Associates in Science! And I did so while also raising my 4-month-old baby boy.

  • Although, I originally looked at this experience as a failed attempt at a college education, I was able to learn from it and take away some important things. I decided to leave behind the pressure of getting an education at any particular school, procrastination, negative thinking, and the lack of discipline. Since that experience, I've learned to give myself grace, learned to get things done even if I don't feel like it, and I've learned that I can do anything if I put my mind to it. The only thing standing in the way of my dreams is me!
