- Students back then had to write on chalk slates and were expected to deliver their lessons when called on upon there teacher. Now we can write on paper and we have pencils or we work electronically.
- Schools back then were not like the large public buildings we have today. Back then students went to one-room schoolhouses. Where children of all ages were taught together. Now we are taught in different grades depending on are ages.
- It was illegal to educate a slave , they wanted education to be available to more children. They wanted everyone to attend school.
