- Hello! Today I'm going to tell you about the development of greek governing.
- In this time frame, there was a monarchy. A monarchy is where the government is ruled by a single powerful person, such as a king. The power is often inherited.
- 2000 BC - 1200 BC
- During this time there was an oligarchy. An oligarchy is where a few powerful people rule.
- 1200 BC - 600 BC
- In an oligarchy, if the few leaders are nobles, who are normally rich,then it's known as an aristocracy.
- During this time frame, there was a tyranny. This is when the government is ruled by a poweful person who seizes power.
- 600 BC - 500 BC
- From that time onwards, there was a democracy. This form of government is where citizens have a direct role in governing.
- 500 BC Onwards
