- Spain was in control over Ecuador, But a war for independence changed that.
- Spain had control over most of Ecuador in the 1800's. They had big estates that were worked on by indian peons.
- Spain was spreading culture around Ecuador. They were doing this because Ecuador was under jurisdiction from the law court of Quito.
- The estates were worked on by the Indian Peons. They would take care of the farms and gardens
- The people of Ecuador did not like how Spain had control. So they decided to start a revolution.
- The war was fought for the control of the city of Quito.
