  • A travelling salesman had difficulty selling his wares and transverse region hoping for new customers. While taking the road he heard a yelp at the edge of the forest and discovered a trapped tanuki who appeared terrified and weak. He then freed the little creature. 
  • CLIMAX
  • The next day, he take his usual route and spotted a pot and decided to sell it to the local monks. As it is a perfect-timing for Morin-Ji Temple as they need large pot for an important service. But the pot's quality is poor over it's handsome price, as monks feel cheated and call the salesman wanting to hear his explanation.  
  • FALLING ACTION
  • Next morning the sales man examine the pot, and didn't see anything wrong. Not until he wants to drink tea to think and put the pot on fire. In no time, the top becomes a creature he helped to be freed.
  • RESOLUTION
  • The sales man was shocked. He heard about tanuki shape-shifting tales likes to play pranks on travelers. However, the tanuki only smiled sweetly at the sales man.
  • Tanuki explained that he wanted to repay the salesman's kindness. But didn't like to be burned, scrubbed, or polished. It gives laugh to the Monk's and salesman out of being impressed by a prankster.

  • From that day on, he become regular guest of the temple. Telling tales and performing tricks to entertain Monks and even villagers. While the salesman visits temple often with tea made from regular pot.
