- the quote I chose from perks of being a wall flower was We didn’t do anything other than kiss. And we didn’t even do that for very long. After a while, his eyes lost the glazey numb look from the wine or the coffee or the fact that he had stayed up the night before. Then, he started crying. Then, he started talking about Brad. And I just let him. Because that’s what friends are for. I choose this quote because it shows that all Charlie wants to do is help his friends no matter what even if its a harmful way to deal with pain and trauma.
- when Charlie was young his aunt would touch him. throughout the book Charlie would try to bury huis trauma by smoking and drinking. these are unhealthy ways to deal with past trauma. by the end of the book Charlie remembers what happened and has to go to a therapist and talk about what happen when he was younger. once he tells people what happens he starts to grow and heal.
- at the end of the book Charlie is finally starting to heal once his family knows and he is able to move on. he is able to start healing because its not only him caring the burden now. The time it started to feel like everything was going to be all right was the time when my sisterand brother stayed after my parents had left. This was some time in July. They asked me a lot ofquestions about Aunt Helen because I guess nothing had ever happened to them. And my brotherlooked really sad. And my sister looked really mad. this quote shows that by explaining that now that his family know he is starting to feel better since he has support.
