Süžeeskeem Tekst

  • There was a meeting of the citizens at one of the churches in Boston to talk about how to stop the landing of the tea.
  • We need a plan to stop it!
  • We must stop the ships from landing!
  • During the evening, citizens dressed themselves the costume of an Indians, equipped with small hatchets, then marched in order to the place of their destination.
  • Now that we are in costume, lets get rid of the tea!
  • They marched upon Fort Hill, with about two hundred people, and proceeded, two by two, to Griffin’s Wharf.
  • WE ARE TAKING THE TEA!
  • 342 chests of tea were drawn up by a tackle, putting a rope around them, hoisting them to the deck and carrying them to the vessel’s side. The chests were then opened, the tea emptied over the side and the chests thrown overboard.
  • *worked in silence*
  • After having emptied the hold, the deck was swept clean, and everything was put in its proper place. An officer on board was requested to come up from the cabin and see that no damage was done except to the tea.
  • Clean up now.
  • There were several attempts to carry off small quantities of tea. One was by Captain O’Connor who came on board for that purpose. People were ordered to take him into custody. He was seized by the skirt of his coat, and in an attempt to pull him back, it tore off; but, springing forward, by a rapid effort, he made his escape. He had, however, to run a gauntlet through the crowd. As he passed, giving him a kick or stroke.
  • GET BACK HERE!
  • *inaudible*
  • AHHHHHH!
