  • It's pathos because he explains what love and hate can do. In his comparison "darkness cannot drive out darkness" because darkness is the absent of light. "Hate can drive out hate" because it will get worse but by showing you care about someone or showing love might change that perspective for that person.

  • This is an example is logos because he uses time to justify when all of this took place which makes his speech is more credible. Martin Luther King is explaining that forever there will be racists. Even though racism is a time of the past his statement is true because this heinous acts still happens today.

  • This quote is ethos because he talks about the Constitution and Declaration of Independents to make his speech more credible. In the Declaration of Independence it says that all men are equal. Even though whites treated blacks as if they were an objects.

  • "there are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, 'When will you be satisfied!''
  • Pathos is to make the reader feel emotion while he or she sees or reads it. Martin was trying to make the whites feel guilty for African American children. They were robbing their dignity with segregating signs.
  • Logos is to persuade the audience by logic. in this quote he talks about money and checks. But on a deeper level he means that whites have it easier than blacks and the blacks have it hard.
  • Ethos is to convince an audience of the author's credibility or character. His quote means that people who are passionate about civil rights he is asking them when is it enough to make you happy. Martin Luther King is trying to convince the people that the civil rights people are not doing anything about it because they were satisfied with what they had.
