John Peter Zenger grew up in Germany and lived with his mother, brother, and sister. His father wasn't about of the household since he passed during a voyage. At around age 13 he sailed to the New York colonies with his household. The government at the time in New York agreed to have an apprentance to kids immigrating to New York. Zenger's apprentance was William Bradford. Soon, Zenger married Mary White and they had six children together of whom survived.
