Dear James, hope you are doing well, it has been very different here since you left...
Our government has started calling for rations so we have to sacrifice and get only the needed amount to keep us alive, for they have to provide items to the military. Due to this we have to use ration books to collect our items. It's not much but at least we still have things to use.

Women here have now taken over the workforce, doing the jobs that the men left. I even got a job as a riveter at The North American Aviation Company down the road.
I think this is a step-up for women, as they now see our potential in the workplace.
The government has also installed groups of militia here to protect our important infrastructure for when we are attacked, they are called Home Guards, they are a group of male volunteers from either the ripe ages of 18 and under or the old ages of over 40. They protect public spaces like factories, beaches and important buildings
Another thing is that we have become cautious, as a nation, of Germany’s bomb raids and now we have been given the option to evacuate. When evacuating you usually move from the city to the country-side, by train or coach, where it is less likely for you to be harmed.
Evacuation is mainly offered to teachers, disabled people, school children and mothers with children under the age of 5. The kids and I have been evacuated many times and are glad to be safe.
