Emperors New Clothes

Süžeeskeem Tekst

  • "Did you ever hear such innocent prattle?" (Paragraph 33)
  • "But he hasn't got anything on" (Paragraph 32)
  • So he walked more proudly than ever, as his noblemen held high the train that wasn't there at all. (Paragraph 35)
  • "But he hasn't got anything on!" (Paragraph 34)
  • "This procession has got to go on." (Paragraph 35)
  • The theme "Being honest is better then lying to yourself" is shown in the scene. The Emperor knows the towns people were probably right about the clothes not being there although he still decided to go the ceremony anyways. If he was honest about not being able to see anything from the beginning he wouldn't have humiliated himself. Without the child's comment the Emperor would have gone to the party think everyone but himself could see the clothes that weren't there. The child led the town to tell him about the Emperor about the clothes although even with the whole town telling him this, and himself not being able to see the clothes, the Emperor still did not listen. This proves that if the Emperor was honest and listened he wouldn't have humiliated himself.
