- A what?
- A climate graph! It's a graph showing the climate of an area.
- Hi Laura! Have you seen the new climate graph for New York?
- That's cool! What's in it?
- Here, I'll show an example.
- Well, there's average temperature, in a line graph, and rainfall, shown in bars. There's also the location and elevation of the area above the graph, and the total average temperature and total rainfall.
- Wow, that's so cool!
- This is a climate graph for New Delhi. As you can see, there's a very high average temperature, and rainfall is low, except for during July and August.
- Why's the temperature so high?
- Well, Delhi is in the middle of the continent, so the water surrounding India doesn't cool it down as much. The Himalayas also block the cold from Siberia.
- How are we supposed to change that, though?
- Well, the best thing to do would be to lower pollution in Delhi, as we can't actually move the city or change the geography of India. The greenhouse effect causes the temperature of Delhi to go up, and without pollution, the greenhouse effect wouldn't be as severe.
