Parris is yelling at Thomas Putnam, and declares him only caring about his own reputation.

Parris was not in this act, therefore we can only assume he is doing nothing.

Parris asks Proctor a question that he knows Proctor will get wrong, just to get to state a know it all comment.

Parris takes back his claim. He changed over the course of the play and is now regretting everything he has said, and is paying back.
