- You are being drafted into the US Army to fight in WWI, but don't worry you will be compensated with $$$$ when you get home!
- Man, we've been over here for four years fighting. I can't wait to get home and get our money!
- Hooray!! War is over! I need my adjusted compensation from the War, Mr. President! My family is hungry!
- Well...about that...I can give you your bonus, but you're going to have to wait until 1945 to get it, and if you don't live until then, well...sorry about your bad luck! Maybe that's why people are calling it ,The Tombstone Bonus.
- Come with me everyone! Let's march to Congress and get our money! We will call ourselves the Bonus Expeditionary Force, or BEF for short.
- Capital here we come and segregation doesn't exist to us!
- The Yanks are starving and you overturned our bill, but we will stay in Washington!
