- Raina talks about her family and introduces them. She explains how she wanted a baby sister, but also recieved a baby brother along the way.
- Climax
- Raina, Amara, Will, and her mom pack up the van and travel across the country to visit their family. Amara and Raina constantly wonder why even though their father is going to visit as well, he isn't riding with them.
- Falling Action
- Raina finally gets to see her older cousin once again and is super excited. They used to love the same things, eat the same food. Raina felt as if she was more of a sister than Amara was. BUut it turns out that Lindsay has grown up quick. When her and Raina can't find common ground, she immediately turns to her young sister.
- Resolution
- During the ride back home, their van breaks down in the middle of nowhere. Mom and Will hitchhike to get into town to find gas. Amara and Raina are stuck in the van until they return. Even though they often fight, during this time the girls find common ground when they are worried if their parents are going to split tup. The understanding of one another and selflessness actually does continue in the rest of the book. Mixed in with sme fighting.
- Raina, Amara, Will , and their mother all make it home safe. When they reach home, they found out Raina will be getting her own room. Naturally, Amara doesn't agree with this and thinks it's totally unfair.
- Life moves on in the Telgemeier household. Raina enters high school. Amara and Raina continue to argue and find common ground at one time. You know, just from seperate rooms.
