- The Nuclear Arms Race was significant because both the US and Russia were arming themselves heavily with nuclears, but neither side attacked because there would be a "mutually assured destruction". It was common for Americans to live in fear of possible nuclear warfare during this time.
- The Iran Contra Affair was significant because it was another instance of the US getting involved in foreign affairs to stop the spread of communism. Reagan was supposed to secure the safe return of US hostages, but he did a bit more by secretly negotiating with terrorists and illegally diverting the funds to a anti-communist group.

- The fall of the Berlin Wall was very significant because it reunited East Berlin and West Berlin. It also signified East Berlin was freed from the Soviet Communist rule. This also meant families and friends could reunite after being seperated by the wall.
