Everyone had been invited to Peleus and Thetis's wedding
Everyone except for Eris, goddess of discord had been invited. When Eris came to the wedding, she was turned away.

In Eris's anger she cast an golden apple, that had The Fairest engraved in it, and threw it among the wedding's crowd.
Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite had found the apple, all claiming it to be theirs.
No! The apple belongs to me!

They all approach to Zeus, to see who is fairest of them all. Zeus hesitates to answer, because all three of them were important to him

Zeus decides to not answer them, and tells Hermes, to lead all three goddesses to Paris of Troy
Can you lead Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite to Paris?

They all aproach Paris each offering gifts to him so he can choose themselves as the fairest.
Hera promises Paris that he can be the most powerful man in the world.
Athena promises Paris that he will be the best warrior to ever exist.
Finally, Aphrodite promises Paris that he would get the most attractive woman in the world.
Paris chooses Aphrodite's offer, and starts his trip to go take Helen, the prettiest woman in the world.
