The world is 3D, but in a 2D medium images can fall flat. It is important to bring depth into consideration to give each frame a sense of realism by incorporating the illusion of space and distance.This visual deception can be created by using layering, cropping and sizing.

The Jungle is filled with exotic animals of all types.
Even though the tiger is a large animal, making it smaller than the parrot creates the illusion that it is farther away. This look is also strengthened by the positioning of the tiger "farther away" in near the back of the scene.

Jan wanted to play outside with the other kids, but couldn't leave her room.
Use the scene to your advantage by placing objects and characters strategically. The scene already has depth, placing things accordingly into the scene helps.
