- A plague called the Red Death is killing everyone in Prospero's kingdom
- Prospero invites all the nobles to his castle for a masquerade, thinking he can just avoid the Red Death
- There are seven rooms in the castle that are all different colors and decorated differently. The last room no one enters, The last room is black and has an ebony clock that chimes every hour
- At midnight, a man dressed like a plague victim arrives with a scary mask. All the guests are terrified of him
- Prospero confronts the figure and ends up dying. All the other guests try running away
- As everyone tries to escape, they all end up dying to the Red Death that has infiltrated the castle
