- Broke out in 1914. in a few months all the "great powers" of Europe had become involved in the conflict. The US involved because the Germans had attacked US submarines.
- Cuban Missile Crisis
- The Nazi Part in Germany obtained power in 1933. In September 1939 Hitler attacked Poland and and other European countries. and WW2 began. The US involved due to the Japanese attack on Pear Harbor in 1941, shown above.
- Vietnam War
- In 1950, North Korea invaded South Korea in an attempt to re-unite the country under one communist rule. President Truman sent US Troops to South Korea to resist North Korea.  They also wanted to contain communism in Asia.
- The Attacks of September 11, 2001
- In 1962, American spy planes discovered Cubans were secretly building bases for nuclear missiles pointed at the US. We involved to stop the placement of the missiles, and they agreed.
-  North Vietnam became communist and wanted to take over South Vietnam. America involved to stop the spread of communism in Asia and to help an ally.
- Al-Qaeda terrorists took control of commercial jet planes and crashed into the World Trade Center and Pentagon; the United States invaded Afghanistan when the Taliban refused to hand over al Qaeda leaders.
