The Buffalo looks at Rabbit and laughs. The leader, Davis, says, "Silly rabbit, we aren't gonna fall for your tricks. How about this? You'll go to that village and pick up on of their massive apples. If you do, we'll make the range." Rabbit thinks and agrees. He starts to head off towards the village.
As he approaches, he sees an apple. As he picks one up and lays it on his back, a human grabs his spear and throws it towards Rabbit. It lands within 2 feet and Rabbit leaves the scene.
Rabbit returns with the apple, hands over it to the herd, and they start to eat. Davis, impressed by Rabbit, says, "Alright, you have my word. Where should we do it?" "Over by the Colorado RIver!" says Rabbit. The herd then starts to head over there.
All four buffalo jumped off the cliff, three of them splashed down into the river, making the ground shake, causing the mountain range to form. Davis didn't make it into the water and hit the other cliff, causing the ground to shake again, but making Mount Elbert.
Rabbit then heads over to the range and is pleased at the one mountain. "I'll name this, the Colorado Mountains". Then he jumps into joy, knowing he's safe from Coyote.
Later on that night, Coyote walks towards his cliff and in the distance, sees the Rockies. Upset at himself, he howls at the moon and begins to starve.
