Liuku: 1
in sleepy Maycomb, Scout and Jem think their father is boring and too old to be a hero
'Atticus was feeble, he is nearly fifty.'
Atticus can't do anything, he just reads all day.
Liuku: 2
One winter day, a mad dog walks up the main street, and everyone is scared
Take the shot, Atticus
He can't shoot, can he?
Liuku: 3
Atticus kills the dog in one shot. Jem and Scout see a new side of their quiet father.
Maybe real courage isn't loud at all
Liuku: 4
Later, Jeam and Scout pass the malevolent Mrs. Dubose, who insults Atticus for defending Tom Robinson.
Your father's no better than the trash he works for!
Jem, don't!
Liuku: 5
As punishment, Jem must read to the formidable old woman every afternoon, and Scout goes with him.
Chapter one... once upon a time...
She keeps us longer every day. Why won't she let us go?
Liuku: 6
After Mrs. Dubose dies, Atticus explains what real courage is.
She wanted to stop using morphine, 'Real courage is when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway.'
We are still learning what courage really means.
So courage isn't just guns. It's fighting your own battles inside.
