- Rachel is a divorced woman with alcohol problems. Her infertility caused her many problems.Every day Rachel walked past a house in the neighborhood where she lived with her ex-husband, where she always saw a couple and imagined their perfect life as she would have had it.
- One day while passing by the place she saw the girl with another man and that frustrated her too much, so she decided to go and confront her.
- Rachel was very drunk and decided to go to her old neighborhood, but she only woke up the next day and didn't remember anything that happened. Later she saw on the news that a woman had disappeared, it was Megan, the girl she watched every day through the window of the train.
- Rachel in an attempt to help went to the police as she had gone to see Megan before her disappearance but not remembering anything and having been drunk she became a suspect. Having no support from the police she decided to investigate on her own.Days later they found Megan's body and discovered she was pregnant.

- Rachel tried her best to remember what had happened and after a conversation with a man who tried to help her on the day of Megan's murder, she began to remember that she found Megan with Tom that day and realized that Megan was unfaithful to her husband with Tom and that he killed her after discovering that Megan was pregnant and that it was possibly their child.
- Rachel then goes to warn Tom's current wife, Anna, that he was the one who killed Megan and Tom arrives so they start to confront each other and Tom tries to kill Rachel but she kills him first and being in self-defense he does not go to jail and after this Rachel starts to get over herself as a person.
