- The teacher reminds everyone to get their math test signed. Buddy looks for his test but is distracted by his friend asking to play video games after school. Buddy has trouble with attention and shifting focus. His focus is now on his friend, and he forgets about putting his math test in his bag

- Buddy followed his friend outside chatting about playing video games. His thoughts are focused on an activity of high interest, and he doesn't realize he has forgotten his jacket. This is explained by his challenges with deployment of attention as well as working memory.
- Buddy where's your jacket?
- Buddy returns to class to get his jacket and his teacher lectures him about responsibility. Buddy has heard this lecture before, but he has challenges with utilization of feedback and is unsure of what his teacher expects from him. Buddy finds his jacket but misses the bus.This is explained by his challenges with time management.
- Buddy you are always forgetting your things! How many times do I have to tell you to be more responsible!
- Buddy is excited about playing video games. Buddy has challenges with self-regulation and he bounces his leg up and down which seems to help him feel better. But this is distracting and annoying to his mom. His mom sternly asks him to sit still. Buddy begins to get upset again.
- Don't give me attitude Buddy! You are not allowed to have friends over and play games today!
- Buddy is overtired and overstimulated from his school day. He is upset and he struggles with emotional regulation. He also has challenges with impulse control which causes him to slam the car door and say something rude to his mom. His mom thinks he is being moody and difficult and tells him he is not allowed to play video games today.
- Buddy had been looking forward to playing video games. His challenges with EF cause inappropriate social behaviors with his peers but that doesn't happen when he plays video games. He notices his backpack and remembers that he forgot his math test. Buddy wonders why everything seems to be so much harder for him than everyone else.
